Red Velvet Cake and Cream Cheese Icing

Red velvet cake is a favorite in my house... and what really makes red velvet cake good is the cream cheese frosting! Using vanilla or something else just isn't the same, am I right? I even bought brandie new baking pans for this because I needed new round pans. However, this concoction somehow tasted weird. And I made this with a box mix and packaged icing... nothing from scratch- so where did I go wrong? I wound up throwing out most of this cake. At least we could still eat the leftover icing ha!

Sugar Spun Nails.. but not really

Well, I thought Sugar Spun Nails looked so cool on all the other blogs.. but when I tried it, it totally didn't work lol!  It still came out with a cool textured, lined manicure- but its not really Sugar Spun. The polish never really got thick the way I understand it's supposed to. Instead of dragging the thickened polish over my nails, it was more like I drew the lines on with a toothpick. Any tips anyone?

Root Beer Float

Um, heck yes! This home fragrance wax by Yankee Candle is named Root Beer Float- and let me tell ya- it totally smells like root beer! So awesome!! It does take a while for the scent to penetrate the air... longer than other fragrances, but once it works, it smells good!

Black and White Water Marble Nails

Marble Monday! If you read my blog regularly, you know Water Marbling is prob my favorite technique. You never know what you're gonna get, but even if it doesn't look all feathery and professional, it still looks cool!

For this manicure, I used white and black polish, but as you can see- a lot of it turned out gray by mixing together.

Again, to see my other water marbled nails click here and for my post with instructions on How-To do water marbling click here. And as always, I have to request- please tell me in my comments which of the marbles is your favorite one!! Thanks. :)

Arrow and Triangle Tape Nails

Alright so.... these came out pretty horribly lol. I tried to get creative with tape and make some crazy triangles and lines. The right hand is at least better than the left... the right is just triangles.. but the left..I tried to do arrows and altering shapes and oyeeee... no good haha. O well!

Nails in Purples

I love purple and I recently got some new purple polishes, so I made a simple accent nail manicure! I used Funky Fingers Sugar Plum Fairy and Sinful Colors Verbena.

Marble Cake

I used baking pans but also cooking pots! Sometimes you just want a mini cake. The best part about this marble cake was marbling the fudge through the batter. I just used a knife and zig-zagged everywhere to make a design I thought was cool. Easy!

Birthday & Crackle Nails

I spent quite a while googling and pinning ideas for birthday nails and came across so many amazing designs. Between the birthday cakes, candles, and balloons, I was impressed. Well, needless to say, I do not do handmade painted designs- I just don't have that talent! So I needed something simple. I thought... hm ok birthday nails can mean glitter. But I'm not a glitter type of person.... so maybe something more metallic looking? I wound up doing a pretty boring birthday nail manicure, but here it is.

I used Wet'n'Wild Metallica for accent nails (thumb and ring finger) and then Sinful Colors This Is It for the rest. One day later, I was too bored with the results so I added OPI Black Shatter. I've used the Shatter before, which results in a Crackle nail look... but I've always been torn about the crackle look. Does it look cool? Or does it really just look like a chipped manicure? It's still up for debate in my mind. What is your opinion about Crackle nails?
